Systems research is concerned with the study of processes consisting of interdependent and interacting units. Such integrated systems can be found at all scales, from atoms forming molecules with very specific properties to mechanical parts assembled into fully functional machines to supply chains consisting of various organizations that move products from manufacturing plants to customers.
